How To Make Pineapple Mango Salsa:
***For complete recipe instructions, see the recipe card below.
- Prep and chop the ingredients.
- Add everything to a mixing bowl.
- Stir everything together.
- Cover the bowl and chill for one hour before serving.
Recipe Variations:
- Make sure you use fresh and not frozen fruit.
- A sweet yellow onion can be substituted if you can’t find a Maui onion.
- Don’t like coconut? Please feel free to leave it out.
Storage Tips:
SERVE: Serve with tortilla chips or over fish and chicken.
STORE: Store the salsa in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Use within 3-4 days.
FREEZE: I do not recommend freezing leftover salsa. It will not defrost well, and the fruits will become mushy due to the excess moisture.
Recipe FAQs:
Besides chips, there are many ways to enjoy this mango and pineapple salsa! You should try it with Smoked Pork Belly Burnt Ends, Smoked Ribs, Carne Asada Tacos, or Beef Enchiladas.
If needed, you can substitute a yellow onion for the Maui onion. Both of these types of onions have a mild flavor. Many salsas use red onion. While it is sweet and has great bite, it takes away from the flavors of the tropical fruit. A mild onion adds a more subtle flavor to this salsa recipe.
