For us, Ayodya Resort in Bali is Nusa Dua’s best family resort. It has all of the comforts of home to make it an outstanding home base for the island of Bali.

Best Bali Family Resort

Pro Travel Tip: You’re going to need a home base.

Ayodya Resort Bali in Nusa Dua was the perfect place for our family of four. After browsing through hundreds (OK, thousands!) of Bali photos and planning our trip meticulously, it’s easy to forget the human factor of travel—especially travel with families.

Yes, a new and exotic country is out there to explore, but you’ll need a place to relax and recharge.  And what better place than a full-service resort! Here’s a quick list of some of our favorite parts of the resort.

We LOVED the towel rack on the balcony. It fit all of our bathing suits nicely.

WELCOMING PRESENCE at the Best Bali Family Resort

Even in the middle of the night, our first impression of Ayodya was stunning architecture and unmatched hospitality.

Fortunately, we weren’t flying from Europe or America, but after eight hours on an airplane and not landing until after midnight, we were just happy to be picked up by the hotel driver and whisked to the resort. Little touches of beauty were everywhere, from the intricate statues and woodwork to the fresh plate of fruit in our room.

When we awoke in the morning, the view overlooking Ayodya’s lagoon and pool with the sun rising over the Indian Ocean in the background was simply amazing.

From the vaulted ceilings of the lobby and veranda to the ornate Balinese Theater and the beach, it soon became apparent why so many newlyweds choose Ayodya to shoot their wedding and honeymoon photos (you’ll see them just about every morning and evening, they’re a lot of fun to watch!).

Ayodya Resort Food

Ayodya’s Waterfall Café boasts a wonderful breakfast spread centered around tropical fruits and dishes. I hesitate to call it breakfast because it was more like a huge brunch buffet!

Every morning we tried different dishes and still didn’t get around to sampling everything, because there was that much of a selection! The breakfast buffet seriously rivals other buffets that I’ve had at different Four Seasons resorts and Intercontinental resorts worldwide.

Whether freshly sliced starfruit and yellow watermelon is your thing, or made-to-order omelets, pancakes, waffles, and international dishes like curry, fried rice, or pink guava jam and jackfruit muffins, it’s hard to find a better way to start your day!

Home away from home feature:

*Breakfast is served until 11:00 AM! This means you can sleep in as late as you’d like and not have to worry about missing the breakfast buffet!

Laguna Café, with its range of Indonesian dishes (and a few Western-friendly options for picky children), was one of our favorites.  We splurged on fresh smoothies, fresh-squeezed juice drinks, and mocktails while sitting on the open-sided patio looking out over the ocean. My favorite dish there is pizza made in pizza ovens fired by coffee wood.

For dinner dining, the Genji Japanese restaurant has an amazing buffet or ala cart dishes like shabu-shabu (our 6-year-old even tried and liked sushi!).

The Octopus Ristorante boasts authentic Italian fare like bruschetta, margarita pizza, risotto, calzones, pasta, and the most delectable seafood platter! The restaurant has a peaceful atmosphere with the most diligent staff.

The service at all of Ayodya’s restaurants was nothing short of fabulous. Indonesia is known for its stellar hospitality and customer service, and Ayodya is no different! We were always well taken care of at all of the dining establishments, from origami butterflies for the kids at Genji to the most attentive dining at Laguna Café.

Ayodya Resort Activities

If you want to avoid the noise and crowds of the Kuta beach area but still stay active, Ayodya has a little bit for everybody. Kayaks, surfboard rentals and lessons, parasailing, and boat rides can all be arranged at the beach.

Or you can sit in a beach-side beanbag while sipping your favorite drink or mocktail. Our favorite drink was a chilled coconut!

The beach is fairly private and features a beach-side juice/drinks bar, umbrellas, beanbag cushions, and generously-sized beach towels.

At the Kids Club, children can dress up in traditional Balinese outfits complete with makeup and hair and take pictures anywhere in the resort. The kids club has several activities every day, as well as full-service child care. This is a feature that only the Best Bali Family Resort will have.

There are also two pools–splash around, or relax in the infinity pool where the view merges with the Indian Ocean as far as the eye can see.

You can easily spend full, fun days here, but if you’re looking to explore during the day, it’s very easy to arrange for a hotel driver to take you to any local attractions in Denpasar or up to Ubud in central Bali.
