I’ve got a great Soup, Chili, and Round-Up for you today. It seems like over half the country is stuck inside and either covered in the white fluffy stuff or stuck in the polar vortex…or worse yet, both! I am right in the thick of it in Utah, and a warm bowl of soup or chili is just what I need to help me get through the long winter season.

I love to make some Bread Bowls, Cornbread, Crescent Rolls, or French Bread to go along with the soup or chili I am making for a complete meal.

The million-dollar question is always what soup or chili should I make? With so many options out there, it can be overwhelming to select a list of options. I want to help with this problem and get as many of you warmed up as quickly as possible!

On wicked cold, snowy days, there’s nothing like a nice, warm bowl of soup or chili. So today, I have got you covered with 40 different kinds of soups, chili, and stew.

I’ve got Slow Cooker recipes, quick & easy recipes, and even Copycat recipes! There’s truly something for everyone in this roundup: meaty, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, too. So check it out and stay warm, my friends!

SOUP AND CHILI FAQs

What is the difference between soup and chili?

The main difference between soup and chili is in one ingredient: stock. Soups are often made with stock or broth to create the soup base. Chili does not use stock but uses the juices from the meat and tomatoes to create the base.

How many types of soup are there?

Six different types of soup fall into two main categories. Those categories are clear and thick soup. The six types of soup are Bouillon, Broth, Consommé, Bisque, Cream, and Potage.

An example of a clear soup would not have a thickening agent, such as Chicken Noodle Soup. In contrast, thick soups, such as Creamy Potato Soup, use thickening agents like flour, cornstarch, and cream to thicken the base of the soup.

COOK’s TOOLS
