Homemade Pumpkin Pie Spice

Pumpkin Pie Spice is LIFE during the fall. I find myself sprinkling it on and adding it to just about everything during the autumn months.

Needless to say, I go through a ton of Pumpkin Pie Spice during the Fall! It’s my go-to ingredient for all things Fall! And this stuff isn’t cheap; for a small 1-ounce jar, I usually pay around $3.99!

With my recipe, you can make quadruple the amount of Pumpkin Pie Spice for the price of one little jar from the grocery store!

What spices are in Pumpkin Pie Spice?

Cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice are in the spice mix.

How much Pumpkin Pie Spice do I need for a pumpkin pie?

For a standard 9-inch pumpkin pie, you’ll need 1 3/4 teaspoons of Pumpkin Pie Spice.

10 Favorite Uses for Pumpkin Pie Spice:

  1. Snickerdoodles. Instead of rolling the cookie dough in cinnamon & sugar, use this spice blend instead. Amazing!
  2. Oatmeal. Sprinkle some of this spice blend on your oatmeal in the morning. Instead of using water in your oatmeal, use apple cider. Yum!
  3. Spiced Nuts. Make sweet spiced nuts and use Pumpkin Pie Spice instead of the spices the recipe calls for.
  4. Pasta. One of my favorite quick & easy dinners for fall is Buttered Pasta or Pasta with alfredo sauce with a little Pumpkin Pie Spice, and Parmesan cheese sprinkled over the top.
  5. Rice Krispie Treats. Add a little to your Rice Krispie Treats, and you instantly have a fall dessert the kids will love. ***BONUS: Add some melted pumpkin spice candy melts to the top, and you’ve got a quick, easy, and fantastic fall dessert!
  6. Smoothies. I like to make a vanilla protein smoothie and add a little pumpkin puree and this spice blend to it. Instant fall in a cup. Plus, it’s healthy, too.
  7. Whipped Cream. Add a sprinkle to your freshly whipped cream, and top off your favorite fall pie. Divine!
  8. Sugar Scrub. Make sugar scrub, add one teaspoon of this Pumpkin Pie Spice recipe for every cup of sugar in the recipe you use. Put it in a jar, wrap it with a bow, and you’ve got yourself a fabulous hostess gift. For more detailed instructions check out this Vanilla Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub
  9. Popcorn. Sprinkle a little on freshly popped and buttered popcorn; it makes a great snack.
  10. French Toast. Use this spice blend instead of cinnamon. You’ll thank me later. 🙂

Cook’s Note:

  • highly recommend using freshly ground nutmeg for this recipe. I like the taste better, and it only takes a little extra effort.
  • Usually, the best-priced spices are from Target, Walmart, and World Market (especially if you’re going to grind your own nutmeg). I would stay away from the grocery store unless you have a wicked good coupon deal!
  • This spice blend will keep in an airtight container for up to 1 year.
