Refresh and rejuvenate with this spa water recipe. Infused with natural flavors, it’s the perfect way to stay hydrated and pamper yourself.

This recipe costs approximately $2.25 to make. It serves 6, which works out to about $0.38 per serving.

While spa water is perfect on a hot summer day, it’s also great paired with a light snack or meal. Try it alongside a salad, for example, spinach salad, bean salad, or pasta salad. I like it with pasta chips or veggie fries.

Spa Water

This spa water recipe is my favorite way to fight thirst every summer, but it’s an easy and refreshing drink that’s great any time of the year! You’ll need sliced lemons, cucumbers, and mint leaves.

Spa water is also known as “detox spa water” or “detox water” all over the internet. It’s generally fruit- and herb-infused water, and while it may sound simple, it’s somehow more refreshing than anything else you could have in the hot weather!

This particular spa water recipe uses cucumber, lemons, and mint leaves. It’ll perk you right up on the beach, at the pool, after working in the yard in the middle of July, or before chasing around the kids outside. Even better: it’s way healthier than soda or even most lemonades if you want to watch what you put in your body.

This was my secret weapon to keep hydrated when I was pregnant, so you know it’s good. But, of course, anyone can have it and enjoy it, too.

Spa Water Recipe Variations

  • Berry Burst: Enhance your spa water with a handful of fresh berries like strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries for a burst of fruity flavor.
  • Cucumber Mint Refresher: Slice cucumbers and add a handful of fresh mint leaves for a cooling and revitalizing spa water experience.
  • Tropical Paradise: Infuse your water with chunks of pineapple, slices of kiwi, and a sprinkle of coconut flakes to transport yourself to a tropical oasis.
  • Herbal Infusion: Experiment with herbs like basil, rosemary, or lavender to create a fragrant and calming spa water blend.
  • Spiced Delight: Add a cinnamon stick, a few slices of ginger, and a dash of honey for a warm and invigorating twist on traditional spa water.
  • Watermelon Splash: Blend fresh watermelon chunks and strain the juice into your water for a refreshing and hydrating treat.
  • Peachy Elixir: Slice ripe peaches and add them to your spa water for a sweet and aromatic flavor infusion.
  • Detox Elixir: Combine cucumber, lemon, ginger, and a dash of cayenne pepper to create a detoxifying and revitalizing spa water blend

Storage & Serving Tips

SERVE: As stated above, let this chill for an hour before serving. You want all the ingredients to mix together well. Serve it ice cold!

STORE: This will last up to 4 days in the fridge. You can add more flavor by replacing the fruit inside. I recommend reusing lemons, cucumber, and mint for three days. After the third day, the flavor diminishes, and the produce loses freshness.

Recipe FAQs

What are some of your suggested additions or substitutions?

The fun thing about this recipe is that there are multiple ways to make spa water, and they’re all delicious. I have a lot of suggestions for all tastes!
For additions:
●      Watermelon chunks during the summer (this makes it incredibly refreshing!)
●      Oranges, sliced, for more citrus
●      Peaches for sweetness
●      Diced or sliced pineapple or kiwi for tartness
●      Spices like ginger, cinnamon, or even cayenne pepper
●      Chia seeds (very nutritious!)
●      A dash of maple syrup for natural sugar
For substitutions:
●      Instead of a cucumber, you can use 1 ½ cups of berries (like blueberries or strawberries, sliced if necessary)
●      Use fresh basil leaves or sage instead of mint to add a different flavor
●      Instead of two lemons, you can use 3-4 limes
If you’re not a fan of the recipe as written, play with these ingredients to find your favorite and keep cool this summer!

The spa water tastes too minty/herbal! How can I tone it down?

You can use less mint than the recipe asks for. Be sure to use any herbs sparingly, as a little goes a long way and will provide a lot of flavor. This goes for basil, too, if you use it.
