The Christmas season is full of traditions and quality time spent with loved ones. These Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments are one of my favorite traditions.

The kids love making and decorating them, and I love how they make my house smell. They capture all the smells of Christmas in cute little shapes.

The ornaments are perfect for hanging on the tree, attaching to a gift or plate of cookies and treats, or hanging around the house. Your kiddos can use their creativity in decorating, and you can enjoy creating memories with them year after year.

1 cup applesauce – $0.36
1 ½ cups ground cinnamon – $2.40
1.25 fl oz bottle White puff paint – $5.80

How To Make Cinnamon Applesauce Ornaments

First, preheat the oven to 200 degrees F. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Next, combine the apple sauce and cinnamon in a small bowl and mix until a dough forms.
Then, dust a hard work surface with cinnamon as well as a rolling pin.
Roll the dough to a ¼-inch thick and use a cookie cutter of your choice to cut out shapes.
Place the cutouts on the baking sheet and bake for 1 ½ hour.
Let the cutouts cool completely for about forty-five minutes.
FInally, create designs using white paint and let them dry completely for about four hours before adding a loop of baker’s twine to the back for hanging.

Recipe Tips

After a few years, these ornaments will start to lose their scent. When this happens, I sprinkle a few drops of cinnamon essential oils on them.

What kind of paint do you use on cinnamon ornaments?

I like to use white puff paint when making these ornaments. I have read that you can use other types of glue, such as Elmer’s Glue or glitter glue, but I have not explicitly tested those.
