Before staying home with my kids, I was an elementary school teacher. I used to love eating lunch with my students in the cafeteria. I especially enjoyed seeing their reaction when they opened their lunch box and there was something special inside. Either a favorite treat, favorite snack, a note, or their sandwich cut in a special way. I saw time and time again that something as small as a note in the lunch box brightened a kid’s day. I know it sounds silly, but I’ve been eagerly waiting for my daughter to go to school so I can make her day with a lunch that I know she’ll love! She’s a great helper in the kitchen. And she really enjoys coming up with her own “recipe” creations, and that’s where this Easy & Healthy Lunch Box Idea comes in.
My daughter has never liked junk food. She loves eating healthy, delicious real food (and I’m right there with her!). Prepping her lunch box every day with these types of foods can be expensive and time consuming. Luckily my local Kroger store, Fry’s, has a fabulous Natural Food Department and they carry some of our favorite brands like Silk, Horizon Organic, and So Delicious.
The aisles of Kroger’s Natural Foods Department are full of natural, real food choices. The department at my Fry’s grocery store has endless snacks, cereal, milk, dairy and non-dairy products, and more. They also have bulk bin items like nuts, rice, oats, granola, etc. I can’t say enough about this department. My kids love everything I’ve picked up there, but their favorite snack has got to be Horizon Organic Cheddar Sandwich Crackers. My little guy can’t get enough of them, and I definitely see them becoming a school lunch favorite!
