Move oven rack to the upper-middle and lower-middle positions. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
MAKE DOUGH:
In a large bowl, beat together butter, ½ cup powdered sugar, and vanilla until fluffy and the butter has lightened in color, about 2 minutes.
Mix in salt and flour until well combined. Fold in pecans.
Shape dough into 1 inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
BAKE:
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until light golden brown.
COOL AND FINISH:
Remove the pans from the oven and cool slightly on a wite rack for about 3 minutes.
Add ½ cup powdered sugar to a medium bowl. Roll the cookies in powdered sugar and place on a wire rack to cool completely.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-4 days.
