Recipe Variations

I used smoked bacon in this recipe because it adds a little more depth of flavor, especially with the maple glaze. You can use regular bacon or bacon of your choosing.

Storage Tips

STORE: Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for a few minutes to crisp them back up.

FREEZE: Freeze them uncooked on a baking sheet, then transfer them to a freezer bag. Freeze for 4-6 months. Cook directly from frozen in the air fryer, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

Recipe FAQs

Can I use a different type of cheese?

You can use mozzarella, pepper jack, or even a blend of cheeses for different flavor profiles.

What if I don’t have toothpicks?

You can place the bacon seam-side down in the air fryer, and they should stay wrapped while cooking.

What dipping sauce goes well with these?

Ranch, blue cheese dressing, or a spicy sriracha mayo are great dipping sauces for these poppers.

Can I skip the maple syrup glaze?

Yes, the poppers will still be delicious without the glaze, but the syrup adds a nice sweet-savory balance.

Spicy, cheesy, and perfectly crispy, these air fryer bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers are my go-to snack for a quick and delicious bite. You’ll love them!

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • mixing bowl
  • Spoon or Small Spatula
  • cutting board
  • knife
  • toothpicks
  • Basting Brush
  • Cooking Spray

Ingredients

  • 12 large jalapeño peppers halved lengthwise and deseeded
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 12 slices of smoked bacon cut in half
  • ¼ cup maple syrup

Instructions

PREHEAT:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).

MAKE FILLING:

  • In a bowl, mix together cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until combined.

FILL AND WRAP:

  • Carefully fill each jalapeño half with the cream cheese mixture.
  • Wrap each stuffed jalapeño with half a slice of bacon, securing it with a toothpick.

GLAZE:

  • Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  • Place the bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers in a single layer, making sure they are not touching.
  • Brush the tops with maple syrup. You may need to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.

AIR FRY:

  • Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the jalapeños are tender.

COOL AND SERVE:

  • Once done, carefully remove the poppers from the air fryer.
  • Allow them to cool slightly and remove the toothpicks before serving.

Notes

  • When deseeding the jalapeño peppers, I find the easiest way is to use a spoon and just scoop out the membrane and the seeds.
  • Also, I recommend using gloves for this process, as the spicy residue will be on your hands for a while.
  • To soften the cream cheese, remove it from the wrapper and put on a plate. Microwave for 10 seconds intervals, until the cream cheese is easily spreadable.
  • The poppers are done cooking when the bacon is crispy and the peppers have cooked and become tender. They will be extremely hot, so take care not to burn yourself when removing them and removing the toothpicks
