Recipe FAQs

Can I make the dough ahead of time?

Yes, after making the dough, before shaping and cutting it, wrap it in plastic and keep it in the fridge for up to two days.

What kind of food coloring should I use?

I prefer to use gel food coloring as it does not affect the texture of the dough.

What shapes can I make?

Some ideas include rolling them into ropes and cutting them into small pieces, using small molds, or even cookie cutters for fun shapes.

Do I have to use butter, or can I substitute it?

I recommend using butter for the best results. You can try substituting margarine, but be aware that it will slightly alter the taste and texture.
