Easy Smoked Turkey Wings

Cooking turkey wings on smokers produces juicy, tender meat and crispy skin. I love making these for game day or a relaxing Sunday. They’re just as good as chicken wings, but they’re larger, so you get more to eat!
Turkey wings are also an affordable cut of meat, which is great for feeding large families. I like to buy them in bulk and store them in the freezer. They’re already portioned out, so I can defrost what we need.

How To Make Smoked Turkey Wings
NOTE: I use a wood pellet grill for most of this process. More specifically, this recipe assumes you have a Traeger smoker/grill.
- Prepare the Seasoning: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Season the Wings: Generously coat the turkey wings with the seasoning mixture. Refrigerate them while you preheat your smoker to 250°F.

- Place on Smoker: Place the seasoned wings directly on the grill grates of a smoked that’s been preheated to 250°F and close the lid.
- Smoke the Wings: Smoke for 1 hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Rest and Serve: Let the wings rest for 10 minutes before serving them hot.

Recipe Variations
- Spice It Up: Get creative with the spices! Sometimes, I like to add a pinch of chili powder, cayenne pepper, or black pepper for a bolder flavor.
- BBQ Wings: Use a sweet or hickory BBQ sauce to make delicious BBQ turkey wings.
Storage Tips
SERVE: These smoked turkey wings are hot off the grill and can be served as an appetizer or with your favorite side dish for a complete meal.
STORE: Place leftover turkey wings in a Ziploc bag or an airtight container in the refrigerator. They’ll keep for 3-4 days.
REHEAT: Reheat the wings in the oven at 350°F for 10 minutes or until warm. You can also reheat them on the grill, wrapped in foil, for a few minutes.
Recipe FAQs
What Type of Wood Should I Use?
You can use any wood you like, but my favorites are hickory or mesquite, which pair perfectly with the BBQ flavor.
Will I Get Crispy Skin?
Yes, the skin will be crispy, though not as much as if they were baked or broiled. For extra crispiness, throw them under the broiler in your oven for a few minutes before serving.
What Goes Well With Smoked Turkey?
My favorite sides for these smoked turkey wings are deli macaroni salad, grilled corn salad, and air fryer asparagus.
