The finished Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu cut into slices.

Chicken Cordon Bleu is a great way to turn boring chicken into a drool-worthy meal that is simple enough to make on a busy weeknight or to serve to guests for a sit-down dinner. The Air Fryer cooks the chicken to juicy golden brown perfection. The chicken is wrapped around ham and swiss cheese that becomes melty deliciousness and then slathered with a flavorful cream sauce that pulls it all together.

This Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe is my favorite because of the Air Fryer. There is no mess of frying the chicken in a skillet! Instead, you get the same great taste of crispy chicken in a much healthier format.

How To Make Air Fryer Chicken Cordon Bleu

  1. First, make the cream sauce by melting the butter in a small saucepan. Then add two Tablespoons of the flour and cook for one minute.
  2. Whisk in the milk, dijon mustard, and Parmesan until the sauce becomes thick and creamy.
  3. Next, season the sauce with salt and pepper, remove from the heat, and set aside to cool.
  4. Butterfly the breasts on a cutting board and then place a piece of plastic wrap over the breast. Lightly pound each chicken breast to ¼ inch thickness, remove the plastic, and season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  5. Evenly spread the sauce between each chicken breast and brush over the split chicken breasts.
  6. Next, place a single slice of swiss cheese on top of each breast. Then place two pieces of folded ham on top of the cheese.
  7. Add another slice of swiss cheese on top of the ham. Roll the chicken breast and secure them with toothpicks.
  8. Refrigerate for fifteen minutes and then dredge each chicken breast in ½ cup of flour.
  9. Then, dip each chicken breast into the beaten eggs, followed by coating in the panko bread crumbs.
  10. Set the chicken breasts into the air fryer to cook at 350 degrees F for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  11. Finally, allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before removing the toothpicks to serve.

Recipe FAQs

Can you put a Cordon Bleu in the air fryer?

100%! This is my favorite way to make this dish. It is perfect for those hot summer months when you do not want to heat the oven and during the winter months when you need a hot meal on the table fast!

What temperature do you cook Cordon Bleu in the air fryer?

You will cook the chicken at 350 degrees F in the Air Fryer. The chicken will take about fifteen to twenty minutes to cook. You will want to flip the chicken halfway through and ensure the internal temperature is 165 degrees F before removing it from the Air Fryer.

I’ve never thought of using the air fryer for chicken cordon bleu! I’m definitely adding this into the weeknight rotation. The kids don’t like swiss, so I used American cheese, but they loved it!
