How to Make Homemade Whipped Cream Questions Answered:

What is whipped cream made of?

Whipped cream is made of 3 simple ingredients: heavy whipping cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla extract. That’s it!

It is made by quickly whipping or mixing the ingredients together on high speed until soft peaks form. If it is whipped too much, you will end up making butter!

Is whipping cream the same as heavy cream?

The biggest difference between whipping cream and heavy cream is the fat content. Heavy cream has at least 36% milkfat while whipping cream, which is lighter, has at least 30-35% milkfat.

Heavy cream whips better and holds its shape longer. Whipping cream will whip and hold a shape, just not as well or as long as heavy cream.

How long will this whipped cream recipe last?

Homemade whipped cream does not last very long. You can keep it for 24 hours in the fridge. The best way to store it is by placing a fine-mesh strainer over a bowl. Then place the whipped cream in the strainer. Any excess liquid will strain through to the bowl underneath.

  2. Peanut Butter: Add 1 ½ Tablespoon of smooth peanut butter in with the powdered sugar.
  3. Cinnamon: Add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon in with the powdered sugar.
  4. Lemon: Add 1 Tablespoon of grated lemon zest in with the powdered sugar.
  5. Maple: Instead of powdered sugar, add in 1-2 Tablespoons of pure maple syrup.
  6. Malt: Add 2-3 Tablespoons of malted milk powder in with the powdered sugar.
  7. Peppermint: Instead of 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, add in ⅛ teaspoon of peppermint extract.
  8. Orange: Add 1 Tablespoon of grated orange zest in with the powdered sugar.

How to make Homemade Whipped Cream:

  1. First, add the cream to the bowl.
  2. Next, beat the cream on high until it begins to thicken.
  3. Finally, add in the remaining two ingredients and continue mixing until soft peaks form.
